It would be a shame to see me in the back row of Raymond James  (crying) for this event. Does anyone remember the U2 concert (Joshua Tree) at Tampa Stadium in the late 80's? Been there, must do that again. I stood in line for 23 and a half hours for tix. Now you have to know somebody just to get a decent seat. What a shame or my butt would be in line right NOW!

It's definitely the weekend for the MacDill AFB Air Show this weekend. I was driving to pick up Kimmie from school and about 6 of the Thunderbirds flew right by me. They were low.(How low were they?) So low I thought they would have to brake at the traffic light with me. (da-dum dum)Pretty cool. So if you are heading to the airshow this weekend, stop by and see us! Have fun at the Air Show, drink WATER, and be prepared for traffic.

Chinese Food Monday

If you have ever cropped here on a Monday afternoon, you know we always get Chinese food from Shanghai takeout down the street. It's wonderful and so inexpensive. OK, it's the best cheap Chinese food ever. Mr. Lee is awesome and everyone who works here or shops here (including Brad) is Julie. Yep, all of us. Lexi, Tammy, Anna, me, you- all of us are Julie. What a riot.

Anyway, besides the fact that I love their food. I also love the fortune cookie phrases. I keep some of my favorites in my wallet. It's like having the guy from Kung Fu in your purse when you need a bit of wisdom.

Today's fortune was good- it goes in the wallet. "Think highly of yourself, for the world takes you at your own estimate."

Friendship album class

Treasure Hunt passports

We will be meeting as a group to draw for prizes next Sunday, March 29th. It would be a shame if you forgot to turn in your completed passport to your home store. Make sure you get them in by close of business Sunday, March 29th. Don't say I did not warn you! Consider this the shot across the bow of your ship before the enemy sinks ya, ya scurvy dawgs! Arrrrr.

Tammy is out of town so the calendar will not be on the website for a day or so. Here it is! Lots to choose from. I am especially excited about the 10 for $25 class. Lots of creative juices flowing for that one. I also love the Friendship book from Donna. I have not seen the actual sample, but I know what she is using- YUMMY! Give me a call this morning. If I don't answer try again. You know how the morning of the 20th is. Crazy busy.

 

I took Wednesday and Thursday off to see a few Spring Training games in Port Charlotte. Nice stadium, Rays look good. Beat the Reds on Wed, lost to the Cards of Thursday. I am sure I will have a rant post later about the fans. By the way, for my Twilight fans, the movie comes out at midnight tonight! I saw it 4 times, did I mention I love Edward?  

 

Thursday, April 2nd- Minnie Mouse layout with Tammy. 6:30pm-8:30pm. We will be cycling through some of your favorite characters each month. This month is Mickey's favorite girl, Minnie. Fee $15.00

 

Friday, April 3^rd- Friday Night Crop Club. We will have 2 Friday night crops in April. The fee for both together is $15.00. It’s a package deal. One price gets you into both. No cancellations or substitutions. 6pm-11pm.  Fee-$15.00

Sunday, April 5^th- 10 for $25.00. I like one page layouts even though we usually do many more double page layouts at the Shoppe. But the latest Scrapbooks ETC got me crazy to do some one page layouts with cool new stuff (old stuff too). There will be 10 layouts for $25.00. Very cool and modern, some embellishments, lots of cool paper. 12pm-4pm.

Tuesday, April 7^th- Easter layout. Double page spread for Easter photos. 6:30pm-8:30pm.

This layout will be using the Making Memories Garden Party line. Fee- $15.00

Wednesday, April 8^th- Animal Kingdom layout. Double page spread for one of the Disney Theme parks. We will continue other theme parks in the next few months. 6:30pm-8:30pm/ Fee- $15.00

Thursday, April 9^th- Easter layout with Tammy. Two page layout for Easter with Tammy. Tammy makes the coolest stuff. 6:30pm-8:30pm. Fee- $15.00

CLOSED Easter Sunday- Enjoy the holiday with your friends and family.

Tuesday, April 14^th- Friendship cards with Donna. Our card guru Donna has fun cooked up for you. Great cards with a least one cool technique. 6:30pm-8:30pm. Fee- $15.00

Wednesday, April 15^th- Carnival layout. Great for Fair, Strawberry Festival, and school carnivals. 6:30pm-8:30pm. Fee- $15.00

Thursday, April 16^th- Disney ride of the month. Our latest Disney Hollywood Studios ridden will be the new American Idol experience. You can use this for other things too, like Karaoke! 6:30pm-8:30pm. Fee- $15.00

Friday, April 17^th- Friday Crop Club. 6pm-11pm. $15.00 for both Friday night crops. No cancellations, no substitutions please.

Saturday, April 18^th- Saturday Crop Club. Our Saturday Day Crop club will meet twice this month. One price gets you into both Saturday day crops. $15.00. No substitutions or cancellations please. 10am-6pm.

Sunday, April 19^th- Graduation book with Miss Pat. 8x8 size great for graduation gift or for yourself. 12pm-4pm. Fee- $25.00

Tuesday, April 21^st- Savannah layout. Part of our destination series of travel spots. Two page layouts of one of my favorite southern cities. Hey ya’ll! 6:30pm-8:30pm. Fee- $15.00

Thursday, April 23^rd- Snow Skiing layout. Two page layout for ski photos. 6:30pm-8:30pm. Fee- $15.00

Saturday, April 25^th- Saturday Crop Club- 10am-6pm. $15.00 for both Saturday day crops! See above for details.

Sunday, April 26^th- Friendship album with Donna. Using Bo Bunny Alyissa and a Bo Bunny chipboard book. 12pm-4pm. $25.00

We will not be having classes or crops during the week leading up to our BIG CROP at the Tampa Garden club. We will be stuffing goody bags, wrapping door prizes and buying stuff for our big event.

Prom Dress success

Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus and he was hiding in the clearance rack at Macy's this Sunday! I bought Kimmie a beautiful, elegant black floor length gown for prom for $43.00 INCLUDING tax. I love markdowns since the dress started at $198.00. Go Julie, Go Julie! I will post photos after prom and you can tell me what a deal I got. It is hard to justify (in any economy) spending a lot of money on a one use dress. I don't buy the whole "I'll wear it again" excuse. You won't. You know it, I know it. Mommy doesn't snow that easy. This way you get the expensive dress but Mommy did not have to pay the crazy price. The best part, it doesn't show lots of skin. It's not cut down to THERE and up to HERE, KWIM?

By the way, speaking of Kimmie, her cheer team placed well at State competition. They beat many other Hillsborough County teams including Sickles, Gaither, Plant and Brandon. Proud of them, they looked great.

Thank you for a great Treasure Hunt

The Treasure Hunt is over and we are so sad. It was great to see our customers, meet new ones and have a great time with our pirating friends. We hope you had a blast too. The ice cream sandwiches were a hit again this year, everyone loved the tag, make and take, and the new product was flying off the shelves. Don't worry, more new stuff is on the way to take it's place.  That being said, we are finally going to be able to sleep without thinking about restocking the shelves, making tags and cutting make and takes. Ahh, sweet sleep.

We have lots of thank you's for people who helped with the Treasure Hunt this year. First, thanks to Val's Basket Warehouse who helped with our display. The trees, treasure chest, planters, etc. came from her store. She is a scrapper too! If you need home dec stuff for great prices, it really is the place to go. Also, our employees stepped up to the plate this past week. Tammy and Anna rock as you guys all know. Thanks to the bathroom cleaner Kimmie. Her payment was a prom dress. LOL. Thanks to my hubbie Brad who took care of the "bathroom incident" last weekend. He is a such a keeper. And a huge huge shout out to Nancy. Everyone knows Nancy Gatchell and we love her so! Her willingness to help us when we were crazy enough to design make and takes and tags with a thousand pieces is priceless. She rescued us with her help and we so appreciate it. Thank you Nancy.

and, OF COURSE, thanks to all the Treasure Hunters. Without any of you , we would not be exhausted but happy! We hope you are exhausted and happy too. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. And see you next year!

I have spent tonight putting out new stuff so you have to visit us again. You know you want another ice cream sandwich, you know you do. I got 2 boxes of Reminisce with new Happy Easter and new Monkey Business plus lots of reorders. We also have new Adornit by Carolee- Owl Collection, Nancy's Flower collection, new recipe papers and more. We also put out new My Little Shoebox and it's yummy. Stop by again for new product and to have a final fling on the Treasure Hunt. I hope you guys are having a blast. It has been great for us too!

I am heading to Tallahasse tomorrow for Kimmie's high school cheer competition. Keep us in your thoughts about 5:30 tomorrow afternoon! We look good, but the competition is always tough. Plus, I am driving one of the vans full of cheerleaders. UGH! I should be back in the store late Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday.

Treasure Hunt Invasion!

I feel like the mayor of Tampa after Ye Mystic Krewe pirates takes over the city- PLUNDERED! But in a very good way. We hope you are having a blast visiting our store, filling your baskets and moving on to the next "port" to do it all over again. We have had a VERY eventful weekend- lots of happy customers, 2 bus visits, a bathroom incident and more fun than the "pirate code" allows! We can't wait to see the rest of the Treasure Hunters this week. As a note, I have uploaded another make and take to the album to the side. You have already grabbed all the booty we had (and I have lots of booty), so we made more today. Once we run out of the first make and take, we will start using make and take #2. We are also sold out of the Treasure Hunt 2 page layout kits. See you guys soon, you are such good pirates you should visit again this week before it's over!
